Using out-of-the-box dashboards


The out-of-the-box dashboards provide insight into data from BMC AMI Ops Monitor products. The out-of-the-box dashboards display metrics provided by BMC and cannot be modified. You can view dashboards for a specific time range, filter out metrics, and auto-refresh to view the updated data.

Before you begin, install the analytics component.

To use the dashboards

  1. To access the out-of-the-box dashboard list, click the Dashboards tab.
    The default dashboard is displayed.

  2. Select a dashboard from the dashboard list. You can also search a dashboard using the Search field. 
    Currently, the dashboards support the following types of panels:
    • Table
    • Bar chart
    • Bar time chart
    • Line chart
    • Column chart
    • Column time chart
    • Area chart
    • Stacked bar chart
    • Stacked column chart
    • Stacked area chart
    • Pie chart
    • Donut chart

      Important

      The value on the top of a column in the stacked column chart displays the overall minimum, maximum, average, or last value for the monitored entity. Similarly, The value at the end of a bar in a stacked bar chart displays the overall minimum, maximum, average, or last value for the monitored entity.

  1. Click Filters list to select a filter and enter the details for the selected filter type.
    For more information about the filters, see Using-the-dashboard-filters.

    Important

    If you apply a filter and also sort the values in ascending or descending order, the resulting data may be empty if the top or bottom values aren't included in the filter.

  2. Click Apply filters.
    The selected filters are applied on the dashboard's panels, and displayed next to Filters option.

  3. From the Time range list, select a value.
    The panels are populated with the data from the selected time range.

  4. Click Custom to customize the time range.
  5. In the Custom time selector, select Last x hours/days.
    Enter a value in the time field.

  6. Select Add to favorites (max 8 saved) to add a custom time range. The custom time range is added to the Time list.
    The selected customized time range is available for all the listed dashboards.

    Important

    The customized time range is saved only on current browser and is not available when using any other browser or computers. 


  7. To customize a time range, select Custom period and enter the following:
    • The start and end date 
    • The start and end hour 
  8. Click Apply.
    The dashboard displays the panels with the applied time range. 
  9. To refresh the dashboard, click image-2023-6-29_17-36-52-1.pngor select an interval from the list to auto refresh.

To upload a new dashboard configuration file

The metrics displayed in the dashboards are provided by BMC. It is based on the most frequently used metrics by our users. If you require additional dashboard for specific use, contact BMC.

To upload a new dashboard configuration file:

  1. Click Dashboards tab, and then open the dashboard list on the bar.
  2. Click Upload new dashboard configuration file and follow the prompt to upload the configuration files.

    Warning

    Make sure you use the dashboard configuration files provided by BMC without modification. Using a configuration file that has been modified can result into critical system issues and lead to data loss.  

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
