Analyzing the charts using view containers

A view container displays multiple views and charts in a single tab on BMC AMI Ops User Interfacefor analytics. You can include any number of views in a container. A view container can include one or more chart types (depending on the definition that you added when creating the view container). For more information on view container, seeWorking with view containers

Warning

Important

In BMC AMI Ops User Interface, you can only view a container, but you cannot add, update, or delete a view container.

For analytics, you can open multiple view containers on separate tabs. A view container can have a tabular view, detail view, hybrid view, and chart views. 

The different types of charts are displayed in different view cards when you open a view container. BMC AMI Ops User Interface supports the following types of charts:

  • Bar chart
  • Stacked bar chart
  • Full Gauge chart 
  • BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2301Half Gauge chart 
  • BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2301Flowchart
  • BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2301Relate chart
  • Stoplight chart (can include two or three stoplights)
  • Line chart
  • Column chart
  • Stacked column chart

    Warning

    Important

    BMC AMI Ops User Interface does not support the following charts:

    • Transposed chart
    • Topology chart
    • Area chart
    • 3D Area chart
    • Stacked Area chart

To access a view container

  1. On the Views tab on the BMC AMI Ops UI main page, click Open view.
  2. On the Open View panel, in the Product field, select a product.
    The Context field is now available. It displays the default context.
  3. (Optional) Select a different context from the list if you do not want to use the default context. 
  4. Click Open view from explorer tree (EZexplorer).
    A list of folders is displayed.

    Warning

    Important

    Currently, all the view containers supported by BMC AMI Ops User Interface are listed under EZexplorer.

  5. Click a folder to search for a view container. View containers are represented by a Container icon as follows:

  6. Click a container. View container is displayed on a separate tab. The tab displays the name of the view and the product.

    If a container includes a non-supported chart types, you get a message that the chart is not supported by the product. The view data is displayed instead.

    If there is a message icon 
    before the name of the card, click the icon to see the details. The message type can be one of the following:

    • Error
    • Information
    • Warning

To set a time range for a view container

BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2301The default time range of a view container is Container Time Definition. To set a new time range, follow these steps:

  1. From the Time list, select one of the following time range.
    • (Default) Container Time Definition
    • Current
    • Last 1 hour
    • Last 2 hours
    • Last 4 hours
    • Last 6 hours
    • Custom
      The charts in the container change according to the time range selected.

      Warning

      Important

      Before you set a time range for a container, different views included in the container might have different time ranges. After you set a time range for a view container, it is applied to all the views in that container.

  2. Select Custom option from the Time list to customize a time range in view contain.
    The Custom Time dialog box is displayed:

  3. In the Custom Time dialog box:
    1. In the Start Date and End Date fields, click image2022-11-22_14-53-45.pngto select the start and end time of a time range.
    2. in the Start Hour and End Hour fields, click image2022-11-22_14-56-2.pngto select the start and end hours for a time range.
    3. Select the check box next to a day to include it in the time range.
    4. From the Shifts list, select one of the following shifts:  
      • Allday
      • Prime shift
      • Swing shift
      • Graveyard shift
    5. Click Apply to apply the customized time range to all the views in a container.

To see Relate charts by using the search option

BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2301

A relate chart displays the tabular data in a chart format. The Relate chart is updated whenever you sort the queues in the search field of the related view card.

To sort the queues and display the chart, type a letter or a special character in the search option of any column in the view card to display the Relate chart. If you are using pagination, the charts change according to the data in the tables displayed on the card.

To view a flowchart in a container

BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2301

To view a flowchart, select the QMGR VISUAL TOPLOGY container from the BMC AMI Ops Monitor for MQ product.

Warning

Important

Presently, only BMC AMI Ops Monitor for MQ (MVMQS) supports this flowchart.

The flowchart includes the display name nodes.

Important

  • The Time range function is not supported in flowcharts.
  • The flowchart cards are displayed in maximized view.

To view the details of a node, hover over it.
