Customizing BMC AMI Ops Monitor for z/OS product via EZCONFIG

The EZCONFIG process improves your experience in installing BMC AMI Ops Monitor for z/OS. After you finish configuring RTCS and BMC AMI Ops Infrastructure by using the Installation System, you can log in to the CAS by using CLIST and perform further product configurations or customizations.

For more information, seeCustomizing BMC AMI Ops product via EZCONFIG.

To start the EZCONFIG process

  1. Run the BMC AMI Ops CLIST.
  2. On the BMC AMI Ops Selection Menu panel, select P (PLEXMGR) and press Enter.
  3. On EZPLEX, under the Administration menu, hyperlink on New Product Configuration.
  4. Select the current install on the INSTLIST view.
  5. On the INSTLIST view, enter the line command S to select the Installation System project name for your product configuration.

    W1 =INSTLIST========== BMCA=====*========ddmmyyyy==hh:mm:ss====PLEXMGR==D==100==============================================
    CMD Install  Create   Create
    --- Name---- Time---- Date------
    S   INSTALL  hh:mm:ss ddmmyyyy
  6. On the EZCONFIG view, enter CFG in the CMD line to configure the BMC AMI Ops Monitor for z/OS product.
The Configured column displays the product that has already been configured on this system. The auditing data to the right displays information about who did the last configuration. You may begin configuration for a product with the CFG line command.

    >W1 =EZCONFIG==========BMCA=====*========ddmmyyyy==hh:mm:ss====PLEXMGR==D====1===================================================================================================
    - Install name: INSTALL

CMD Product Name                             Configured Product Checklist                                       ConfTime ConfDate     ConfUser
    --- ------------                             --------   -----------------                                       -------  -------      -------
CFG BMC AMI OPS Monitor for z/OS             NO

After you complete the configuration and before the PAS is ready to start, a CHECKLIST is displayed . Similarly, a Product Checklist is displayed on the EZCONFIG view.

    |
    | Please review the checklist below for TODOs before starting the product.
    | This checklist is also saved in UBBSAMP:
    |
    |  HQL.UBBSAMP(BBDCKLST)

    | for future reference.
    |
    | Please do the following before starting the PAS:
    |
    |
    | 1) We have created sample JCL in:
    |
    |     HLQ.UBBSAMP
    |

    |
    |     BBDDSALC        <--- to allocate and format datasets
    |     BBDCPROC         <--- to copy PAS proc to PROCLIB concatenation
    |
    | to allocate datasets and copy the PAS procedure and any
    | other necessary members to the PROCLIB concatenation for the
    | z/OS system. These JOBs will need to be submitted, and
    | completed without error prior to starting the PAS.
    |
    | 1. Verify that all STEPLIB datasets are APF authorized
    | before starting the PAS.
    | 2. You must add a MOUNT statement to the BPXPRMxx member
    |  in SYS1.PARMLIB. The MOUNT statement will mount the
    |  USSHOME file system on subsequent IPLs:
    |  MOUNT FILESYSTEM(HLQ.INSTALL.UFOZFSRT')
    |  MOUNTPOINT('/u/BMCAMIOPS/INSTALL/bfh640')
    |  TYPE(ZFS) MODE(RDWR)
    | 3. After the PAS starts up you should see these messages:
    | BBDDI029I MVS PAS(xxxx) Initialization complete
    | BBMBBZ01I Metrics initialization completed for MVCSMON
    | BBMBBZ01I Metrics initialization completed for CMF
    | BBMBBZ01I Metrics initialization completed for MVUSS
    | BBMBBZ01I Metrics initialization completed for MVMVS
    |
    | End to exit
    +-----------------------------------------------------------------------
  7. Use BBDDSALC from HLQ.UBBSAMP to allocate and format data sets required by the PAS.BBDCPROC that contains the JCL to copy PAS proc to PROCLIB concatenation.
  8. Verify that PAS starts up without any errors.

Important

By default, the following products are installed:

  • BMC AMI Ops Monitor for z/OS
  • BMC AMI Ops SYSPROG Services
  • BMC AMI Ops Monitor for CMF (CMF)
  • BMC AMI Ops Monitor for UNIX System Services

You can run only one PAS for any combination of these products.

If BMC AMI Ops Monitor for z/OS is not running with CMF, the following messages are displayed in the PAS log:

BBAPWD02 CMF MONITOR UNABLE TO FIND PASSWORD FOR THIS PRODUCT, INSTALL PASSWORD FOR PRODUCT
*WARNING* CMFCTL10 PRECEDING CONTROL STATEMENT IGNORED BECAUSE CMF MONITOR IS NOT ACTIVE

The BBAPWD02 message can be removed by disabling CMF in UBBPARM(BBATSP00) member,
and the CMFCTL10 warning messages fixed by removing the affected CMF samplers from the UBBPARM(CMFCPM00) member.
