Uppercase and lowercase commands

Use the CAPS=[ON|OFF] option in BBPARM member BBISSP00 to control the mixed-case support function.

If the CAPS option is omitted, the default is CAPS=ON.

For example, assume that you type a command or an IBM MQ object name on the COMMAND line. If CAPS=ON (or the setting is missing), your entry is converted to uppercase. If CAPS=OFF, the entry is considered to be case sensitive.

That is, mixed-case support for COMMAND line entries takes effect only when you have specified CAPS=OFF; you must provide parameters that are case exact and invoke views from the COMMAND line by using case-sensitive parameters (for example, LQ ABC*, LQ abc, or LQ aBc).

Important

The CAPS parameter setting applies to entries on the COMMAND line only. When you type directly into a field in a screen or view (for example, when you change the value in an overtype field), the case of each character is recognized.
