Adding aliases for JVMs with the same job name

When you monitor JVMs that share the same job name across different LPARs in a sysplex and you hyperlink on these JVMs, BMC AMI Ops Infrastructure might retrieve inaccurate results because the target names across the sysplex are not unique.

To avoid this issue, you can use MJEALSxx members in the BBPARM data set to add aliases for JVMs with the same job name across different LPARs. The aliases provide unique target names for BMC AMI Ops Infrastructure. The MJEALS parameter in the MJEINI member makes the aliases known to the PAS.

The default MJEALS00 member provides example alias definitions. The MJEALSxx member format is as follows (with each keyword comma-separated):

JOBNAME=jobName,SYSNAME=systemName,ALIAS=aliasName

Warning
Important

The alias name in the MJEALSxx member of the BBIPARM library must be unique.

To add, alter, or delete an alias

  1. Hyperlink on Easy Administration
  2. From the EZADMIN menu, select Alias List Settings (MJEALST), and press Enter.
  3. On the MJEALST view, which displays all entries defined in the MJEALSxx member, enter ADD on the COMMAND line.
  4. To add an alias, complete the following fields in the Alias Item Add dialog box, and then enter ADD on the COMMAND line
Field Description
Job nameName of the job that is associated with the address space in which the JVM is running
System nameName of the system on which the JVM is running
Alias nameAlias name to associate with the required Job name
Member suffixSuffix of the MJEALSxx member in which to save the entry
OverwriteSpecifies whether to overwrite the existing MJEALSxx member with the same name
  1. To alter an existing entry, use the CHA line command.
  2. To delete an existing entry, use the DEL line command.

For the changes to take effect, you must recycle the PAS.

Warning
Important

To set a context for an existing target, use the alias name defined in the MJEALSxx member as the context name.
