Saving Packet Trace data upon PAS recycle


To save Packet Trace data upon PAS recycle, you can specify the file name you want to use, or leave it blank. Use the following procedure to save Packet Trace data to a data set upon recycle of the PAS.


Before you begin

You can pre-allocate a data set before you save Packet Trace upon recycle of the BMC AMI Ops Monitor for IP PAS. This process is not performed within the program.

Allocate the data set with the following attributes:

  • Organization: PS
  • Record format: VB
  • Record Length: 27998
  • Block Size: 32760

To save Packet Trace data upon recycle of the BMC AMI Ops Monitor for IP PAS

Important

Instead of pre-allocating the Packet Trace data, you can leave the Shutdown Packet Trace File field blank so the file name defaults to PASNAME.PKTTRACE.SAVE.

  1. From the EZIP menu, select Product Administration (EZADMIN) in the Utilities section and press Enter.
  2. From the EZADMIN menu, select MVIP Configuration Settings (MVIPCNFD), and press Enter.
  3. In the Save Pkt at Shutdown field, type YES or NO to enable or disable saving of Packet Trace data.
  4. In the Shutdown Packet Trace File field, type the name of the data set where BMC AMI Ops Monitor for IP should write the Trace data when the PAS is shut down.
