Accessing thread history data

Thread history overview data in both the  TLDSs and  Data Collector active trace data sets is accessible from the thread interval history views.

Thread history overview data from the following sources is accessible from the thread interval history views:

  •  TLDSs
  •  Data Collector active trace data sets
  •  current traces

These views provide summary performance data and exception analysis of your Db2 workloads. They display summary data by 15-, 5-, and 1-minute time intervals and connection type, and they provide access to the detail thread accounting data.

To access the views for thread interval history analysis

Use one of the following methods:

  • On the EZDB2 easy menu, select Thrd Workload History and press Enter.
  • On EZDBA, select Thread History / Query and press Enter.

The Thread History Trace Log List view (HTLOGS) is displayed.

This view displays information about all available sources of thread accounting history. It includes each trace log data set (TLDS), data from the  - Data Collector (MVDB2DC) active trace data sets, and current traces. The entries are sorted by end date and time, so typically the MVDB2DC entry is at the top, followed by the most current THRDHIST TLDSs. TLDSs that are currently being updated are displayed in green.

On the HTLOGS view, you can hyperlink on the following columns:

Column name

To access

Type

(For MVDB2DC traces) panel displaying filtering options for the package summary report (THACPKGS), with a drill down to package details.

Filtering is enabled with package-level qualifiers (such as the package name and collection ID) and thread qualifiers.

Number Records

The following information depending on the selected trace:

  • (For trace logs with available TLDS data, and for MVDB2DC traces) the HTIQZ view displaying a summary of thread data in 15-minute intervals for all the thread accounting records in the active trace data sets.
From HTIQZ, you can drill down to further interval details (5 minutes, 1 minute, or connect type) before selecting individual thread data, or to a thread query panel to further qualify your request. For more information about HTIQZ, see Analyzing-workload-interval-summaries.

    Warning

    Important

For MVDB2DC history traces, this field displays zero (blank) if there has been no thread activity in last 7 days.

  • (For traces without logging) current trace data is displayed on the TRLTRAC view

State

(When the value is Curr) current trace data is displayed on the TRLTRAC view.

Warning

Important

Consider the following information:

  • To view additional information about a  application trace in windows-mode views (HTIQZ, Thread Query, TRLTRAC, and TRSTRAC), trace logging must be active and trace data must be available in the TLDS.
  • TLDS is not required for  Data Collector traces. Hyperlinks for Data Collector traces link to windows-mode views.
