Customizing the trace facility

A trace request can specify that trace data be recorded to VSAM data sets for later viewing or printing. The logging of trace data requires a pre-allocated trace directory that must be identified to the BBI-SS PAS. Setup of the trace directory can be done automatically by BMC AMI Ops Customization.

An alternative is to set up the trace directory manually, as described in this section. Trace log data sets can be pre-allocated or they can be dynamically allocated at the time of the trace request, as described in Using.


Tip

If one or more summary traces are defined to start automatically, a continuous workload history is available for later viewing.
