Using several methods interchangeably

As mentioned previously, you do not have to use hyperlinks, menus, or commands exclusively.

Rather, all three methods are available from any display at any time and can be used interchangeably.

As an example, suppose that you have just accessed BMC AMI Ops Monitor for CMF Online and want to see a list of the available workload delay views. From EZMZOS, move your cursor to the COMMAND line, type MAIN, and press Enter (command method). When the MAIN view is displayed, place the cursor on the WORKDEL views option. Press Enter to display the menu shown in the following figure (view menu method--partial view only):

W1 =WORKDEL===========SYSB=====*========DDMMMYYYY==HH:MM:SS====CMF==========51
C View Name  Description
- ---------- ------------------------------
  DDJOB      Devices delaying jobs
  DDJOBZ     Devices delaying jobs Summary
  DUJOB      Devices used by jobs
DUJOBZ     Devices used by jobs Summary
  JDDEV      Jobs delayed by device
JDDEVZ     Jobs delayed by device Summary
  JDELAY     Interval job delays
  JDELAYR    Realtime job delays
  JDELAYZ    Summarized job delays
  JDENQ      Jobs delayed by Enqueues
JDENQZ     Summary Jobs delayed by Enqueu

  JINFO      Detailed job delay information
  JINFOR     Detailed Realtime job info
  JINFOZ     Summary detailed job info
  JJESD      JES related delays

After selecting a view from the menu (view menu method), you modify the display by using the SOrt command on the COMMAND line to sort a field (command method).

You then type CUST on the COMMAND line (command method) to invoke the view customization facility and tailor the view to suit your needs.

When you finish customizing the view, you start exploring system performance by using hyperlinks (that is, moving from view to view by placing the cursor on a highlighted field and pressing Enter).

Remember—if a hyperlink does not exist for a desired view and you do not want to establish one, you can always display the view that you want by entering its name (and parameters) on the COMMAND line. You can also retrace up to 20 steps in a window by pressing PF3 repeatedly, or get back to the EZMZOS view at any time by typing EZMZOS on the COMMAND line. (EZMZOS is treated as any other view in the stack. If you press PF3, you return to the previous view.)

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
