PCIE Activity Report

The PCIE Activity Report displays data for PCI Express (PCIe) hardware activity, DMA, hardware accelerator, and hardware accelerator compression.

The PCIE Analyzer control statement requests the PCIE Activity Report. The PCIE Extractor control statement obtains the data for this report.

This report can have the following sections:

General PCIE Activity
This section shows information about the PCI Express (PCIe) hardware activity.
Hardware Accelerator Activity
Appears only if compression acceleration uses IBM zEnterprise Data Compression (zEDC).
This section shows information about the hardware accelerator.
Hardware Accelerator Compression Activity
Appears only if compression acceleration uses IBM zEnterprise Data Compression (zEDC).
This topic shows information about the hardware accelerator compression.

The following table describes each field in the PCIE Activity Report.

Field	Description
General PCIE Activity section
Function Information	ID—PCI Express (PCIe) function identifier CHID—PCIe function physical or virtual channel identifier Name—PCIe function device name Type—PCIe function device type Status - PCIe function status at the end of the reporting interval: Allocated—The function was allocated and in use. Re-Allocated—The function was de-allocated during the interval, and then was reallocated and in use. De-Allocated—The function was de-allocated during the interval and was not in use. De-Allocate-Pending—The function was being de-allocated. Error—The function was in permanent error. Unknown—The function's status was unknown.
Owner	Job Name—job name of the owner that allocated the PCIe function ASID—address space ID of the owner that allocated the PCIe function
Alloc Time	time, in seconds, that the PCIe function was allocated or pending de-allocation during the interval
Operations Rate	PCILoad—rate at which PCIe Load operations were executed PCIStore—rate at which PCIe Store operations were executed StorBlk—rate at which PCIe Store Block operations were executed Refresh—rate at which Refresh PCIe Translations operations were executed
DMA	Xfr Rate: MB/S ReadData—for DMA reads, the rate (in megabytes per second) at which data was transferred from all defined DMA address spaces to the PCIe function WriteData—for DMA writes, the rate (in megabytes per second) at which data was transferred from the PCIe function to all defined DMA address spaces MBytes Transferred: ReadData—for DMA reads, the total amount of data (in megabytes) that was transferred from all defined DMA address spaces to the PCIe function WriteData—for DMA writes, the total amount of data (in megabytes) that was transferred from the PCIe function to all defined DMA address spaces
Physical Network IDs	Applicable only for RoCE and ISM the physical-network identifier (PNET ID) of an Ethernet network that is accessible from the ports of the channel of the PCIe function
RoCE	Xfr Rate: MB/S—the rate (in megabytes per second) at which data was received or transmitted Packets/second—average number of packets received or transmitted per second
zEDC	Units/second—the rate (in units per second) at which work units are processed Util%—work units consumed per second over the maximum work units that can be consumed in a second
zHpL	Xfr Rate: MB/S—the rate (in megabytes per second) at which data was received or transmitted Requests/second— Total: Rate per second of all requests (successful, rejected by the processor, and rejected by the storage controller) Success: Rate per second of successful requests
ISM — Xfr Rate — MB/S	Xmitted—the rate (in megabytes per second) at which data was transmitted
Hardware Accelerator Activity section Appears only if compression acceleration uses IBM zEnterprise Data Compression (zEDC).

Application Description	description of the PCIE function
Time Busy %	percent of time that this partition kept the hardware accelerator busy
Total # Requests	total number of requests this partition sent to the hardware accelerator
Per Request	Exec Time— average time, in microseconds, it took the hardware accelerator to process a request E.T.StdDev—standard deviation for request execution time Queue Time—average time, in microseconds, that a request spent in the queue. Although this value applies to a single system, it can be affected by other partitions that share the hardware accelerator. Q.T.StdDev—standard deviation for request queue time Size KB—average number of kilobytes transferred per request
Total Xfr	# KBytes—total amount of data, in kilobytes, transferred by DMA operations Rate MB/S—rate of all data transferred by DMA operations, in megabytes per second
Hardware Accelerator Compression Activity section Appears only if compression acceleration uses IBM zEnterprise Data Compression (zEDC).

Compress Operations	Requests—total number of compression requests Req/Sec—rate of compression requests per second Bytes In—total number of input bytes Bytes Out—total number of output bytes Ratio—ratio between input and output bytes compressed, calculated as follows: Bytes In / Bytes Out
DeCompress Operations	Requests—total number of decompression requests Req/Sec—rate of decompression requests per second Bytes In—total number of input bytes Bytes Out—total number of output bytes Ratio—ratio between input and output bytes decompressed, calculated as follows: Bytes In / Bytes Out
Buffer Pool	Size(MB)—total memory, in megabytes, allocated to the buffer pool Util%—average amount of the buffer pool that IBM z/OS used
Synchronous I/O Link Activity
Port ID	Physical port number for which this PCI function is associated.
Link ID	Synchronous I/O link ID that is configured in the storage controller
Serial Number	Serial number of the storage controller to which the synchronous link leads
Type-Model	Type and Model of the storage controller to which the synchronous link leads
Total Req Per Sec	Total requests per second, including both successful and rejected requests
Successful Request %	Percentage of total requests that were successful
Read MBs Per Sec	Megabytes transferred from the control unit per second
Read MBs Per Req	Megabytes transferred from the control unit per request
Write MBs Per Sec	Megabytes transferred to the control unit per second
Write MBs Per Req	Megabytes transferred to the control unit per request
Time Busy %	Percentage of processing (CPU) time over elapsed time
Synchronous I/O Response Time Distribution
% Read	Percentage of the read I/Os that were completed in less than n microseconds or longer than 100 microseconds

Port ID	Physical port number for which this PCI function is associated.
Serial Number	Serial number of the storage controller to which the synchronous link leads
Type-Model	Type and Model of the storage controller to which the synchronous link leads
Total Req Per Sec	Total requests per second, including successful and rejected requests for an LPAR or CPC
Successful Request %	Percentage of total requests that were successful for an LPAR or CPC
Read MBs Per Sec	Megabytes transferred from the control unit per second for an LPAR or CPC
Read MBs Per Req	Megabytes transferred from the control unit per request for an LPAR or CPC
Write MBs Per Sec	Megabytes transferred to the control unit per second for an LPAR or CPC
