Parameters

The parameter for the FICONSW control statement is:

RANGE=

(optional) provides the means to select the FICON switches that are to be included in the CMF Extractor output.

Others will be ignored. The range can be specified as:

  • a single switch device, such as RANGE=ssss
  • a list of single switch devices, such as: RANGE=(ssss,ssss,ssss,......)
  • a range of switch devices, such as RANGE=(ssss: ssss)
  • a list of ranges of switch device numbers, such as RANGE=(ssss: ssss, ssss:ssss,.....)
  • or a combination of these, such as RANGE=( ssss, ssss, ssss: ssss, ssss,......)

Up to sixteen switches or switch ranges can be specified. Each value specified must be 3 or 4 hexadecimal digits (0 through F), and it must not be a duplicate of another. The values need not be in any particular sequence; however, a switch device range must be in ascending sequence.

The following message can be issued as a result of processing the parameter:

CMFFCS04 Invalid Switch device range 'XXXX:YYYY' specified in the RANGE parameter of the FICONSW control card.

Examples

Example
 FICONSW

This example starts the FICON Director sampler, which collects FICON Director configuration and activity data.

Example
FICONSW RANGE=(0C00,OC02,0C04,0D00:0DFF)

In this example, only the FICON switches whose device numbers match a device number in the parameter will be included in the FICON Director sampler.
