The CPU Utilization Report provides information about CPU busy times, CPU online and offline times, and CPU queue lengths.
The CPU Utilization Report is produced by using the CPU Analyzer control statement. The data is obtained by using the CPU Extractor control statement.
This report consists of these sections:
Partition Data This section is produced if the Extractor records were gathered in a system running in a PR/SM environment. This section shows logical and physical processor utilization and configuration information by partition.
LPAR Cluster This section is produced if at least one LPAR cluster is defined on the central processor complex (CPC). While repeating some of the information that is available in the Partition Data Section, this section provides additional information about partition attributes that are managed by Workload Manager and summarizes data at the LPAR cluster level.
Capacity Group This section lists each LPAR group with its respective capacity limit, names the LPARs that are in the group, and lists certain attributes and counts for the LPARs.
Hardware Group This section is produced if there is at least one hardware group with at least one capping limit set on a physical processor type (CP, zIIP, ICF, or IFL). This section lists each hardware group with its respective group capping limit in CPUs per physical processor type and names the LPARs that are in the hardware group.
LPAR Combination This section displays combinations of LPARs and their highest rolling four-hour MSU per hour. This value helps to assess the license charge of Variable Workload License Charge (VWLC) products that are active either all the time or during periods of peak CPU utilization
Rolling 4-Hour MSU Usage Distribution This section helps to determine the defined capacity of an LPAR and evaluates the current defined capacity to help decide if capacity should be increased or decreased. This section is produced in the report by default. To suppress this section from being displayed, specify the report parameter MSUDIST=NO.
MSU Usage Detail This section is produced if the parameter MSUDETAIL is specified. With Variable Workload License Charges (VWLC), the capacity for an LPAR is defined in terms of Millions of Service Units (MSUs). This section shows the distribution of 4-hour MSU per hour usage.
Summary This section describes the activity of all CPUs in the system and includes the Processor Summary subsection in addition to the System Address Space and Work Unit Analysis subsection.
CPU This section shows each CPU that was online during the measurement interval. It lists critical information by CPU and produces two graphs that visually represent the listed information. Each CPU ID and serial number are shown at the beginning of this section.
