Types of monitors


The following types of monitors are available:


  • General monitors track broad areas of CICS performance. Included amongst these monitors are the general-purpose problem monitors.
  • Indicator monitors track the status or availability of specific resources.
  • Workload monitors collect information about workloads created based on transactions, programs, terminals, user IDs, and transaction classes.
  • Problem monitors track broad areas of CICS performance and report the number of problems for their associated areas.
  • Task monitors track CICS transactions including CPU usage by task, number of database calls by task, and number of files used by task.
  • Storage monitors collect information about storage including temporary size, DSA pages available, total DSA size, and EDSA available.

Each monitor collects data about a particular area in a specified CICS target region.
