Types of monitors
- General monitors track broad areas of CICS performance. Included amongst these monitors are the general-purpose problem monitors.
- Indicator monitors track the status or availability of specific resources.
- Workload monitors collect information about workloads created based on transactions, programs, terminals, user IDs, and transaction classes.
- Problem monitors track broad areas of CICS performance and report the number of problems for their associated areas.
- Task monitors track CICS transactions including CPU usage by task, number of database calls by task, and number of files used by task.
- Storage monitors collect information about storage including temporary size, DSA pages available, total DSA size, and EDSA available.
Each monitor collects data about a particular area in a specified CICS target region.
