Overview of monitors

Data collection monitors, sometimes referred to as active timers, measure key system resources.

The data collected at each sampling interval is compared to predefined thresholds. When a threshold is exceeded, a warning message (with prefix FT) is issued. Messages can be displayed by several BMC AMI Ops Monitor for CICS display services.

The collected data are also stored in the BBILOG and are available for recall. You can view a plot of the recent history of any monitored resources at any time. You can take appropriate action either manually or with an automated script from BMC AMI Ops Automation.

In addition, you can

  • Access monitors using views; see Using-monitor-views
  • Set monitor thresholds online with the CMRPRBT view
  • Start or stop a monitor with a BMC AMI Ops Automation EXEC
  • Start a series of monitors automatically when the system starts
  • Print a screen image to a sequential or partitioned data set (PDS) using the MVI EXPORT command
