Managing USS disk storage threshold

This topic describes the USS storage thresholds and the minimum required disk storage to create a backup.

The following parameters in amipdt.properties enable the BMC AMI Manager to monitor the available USS disk storage:

  • USS_DISK_WARN_THRESHOLD=524288000
  • USS_DISK_ERROR_THRESHOLD=104857600

If the disk storage is below the default value, the BMC AMI Manager component displays one of the following statuses on the Health Status page:

  • Warningimage-2023-9-18_16-46-43.png—Displayed when the free storage is below the USS_DISK_WARN_THRESHOLD default value.
  • Errorimage-2023-9-18_14-49-19.png—Displayed when the free storage is below the USS_DISK_ERROR_THRESHOLD default value.
The system should always have a free space at least twice the size of the database or repository directory under aoidata/aoiinst, else, the backups cannot be created as scheduled. If the USS_DISK_ERROR_THRESHOLD is set to a value lower than twice the size of the files in the database or repository directory, BMC AMI Ops Insight uses the higher error threshold or the database size.
Warning

Important

The WARN threshold should be a value larger than the ERROR threshold. If they are not set correctly, the system uses the default values. These default values are just a starting point, users can set the values that are appropriate to their environment.
