Viewing Event Summary report


You can use an Event Summary report to help you detect the probable source of anomaly in an event. It uses the Classification category and the Classification KPI Groups to summarize how an event was classified through its lifecycle. You can use the Event Summary report for the following purposes:

  • To get an overview of what was happening during the event
  • To identify critical periods within the event
  • To identify the time span of the exceptions

The Event Summary report includes the following: 

  • Active events—Displays a summary of all active data for the event to date
  • Historical events—Displays a summary of historical data for the event

You can access the Event summary report from the following windows:

Important

  • For active events the data is summarized till the latest minute.
  • For historical events the entire duration of the event is summarized.

To view the Event Summary report in Historical Events window

  1. From Events menu, select Historical Events.
  2. In the Historical Events window, clickimage2022-6-14_20-26-47.pngnext to the event that you want to analyze.

  3. From the list, select View Event Summary.

    The Legend are as follows:

    Description

    Event ID

    Displays the event ID

    Sensitivity

    Provides the sensitivity level of the anomaly

    The values used are Low, Medium, High.

    Start Date

    Date at which an event started

    View Event Classification

    Navigates to the Probable Cause Analysis tab 

    You can analyze the events on the basis of classification.

    Start Time

    Time at which the event started

    End Time

    Time at which the event ended

    Important

    An Active Event Summary does not have an end time.

    Duration

    Displays the occurrence time period of an event

    The maximum duration can be 12 hours.

    Event Classification

    Classifies the events on the basis of Contention, CPU, I/O, Real Storage, Virtual Storage, and Workload

    The events are displayed on a scale with 10 minute time intervals.

    Exceptions

    Displays all the exception in the lifecycle of an event

    The range includes the start and end time of the event.

    Classification KPI Groups

    Displays the source KPI Groups of anomalies in an event in the form of a pie chart

    Refreshes the data to the latest minute

    Important

    Refresh option is only available for active events.

To view the Event Summary report in Active Events window

  1. From Events menu, select Active Events.
    All the active events are displayed.
  2. Select an active event. The Active Event page for the selected category is displayed.

  4. From the list, select View Event Summary.
    The Active Event Summary window is displayed.

To view the Event Summary report in KPI Group status window

  1. From System Status menu, select KPI Group Status.
  2. In the KPI Group Status window, click on the entity that have an event running.

  3. From the list, select View Event Summary.
    The Event Summary report is displayed.

To view the Event Summary report in Timeline window

  1. From System Status menu, select Timeline.
  1. In the Timeline window, click on any historical or active event.

  2. From the list, select View Event Summary.
    The Event Summary report is displayed.
