Creating the started task for the DBC address space

Use the following procedure to set up a started task procedure for the BMC Execution Component for z/OS (DBC) address space, which is required for the Logger.

Tip

This task is required for all

BMC AMI Ops

 products.

Use XXSAMP member DBC$STC as a model to help you set up the started task procedure.

Before you begin

The Logger requires that a DBC address space is running in the LPAR. If a DBC address space is already running, you can skip this section and proceed to the Defining-Next-Generation-Logger-and-Logger-agents section. If a DBC address space is not already running in the LPAR, complete the procedure below.

To create the started task procedure for the DBC address space

  1. Copy XXSAMP member DBC$STC to SYS1.PROCLIB or another system procedure library.
  2. Follow the instructions at the top of the member to modify the procedure to your site requirements.
  3. (Optional) Define the DBC started task procedure to your IPL procedure so that the DBC address space starts at system initialization. For more information about the DBC, see Common mainframe infrastructure.
  4. Start the DBC started task.
  5. Proceed to Defining-Next-Generation-Logger-and-Logger-agents.
