Starting the Host Server

Before users can launch MainView Explorer (MVE) to access host data, the Host Server must be running as a started task and at least one CAS needs to be running. Additionally, the host server must have an OMVS segment that is defined for the user associated with the authorized started task.

To start the host server

From the system console, type the START procedure command. In this command, procedure is the cataloged procedure that contains the JCL to run the Host Server. The distributed procedure name is BBMXPJCL. However, the procedure name might have changed during installation. After the Host Server initializes, the following messages are written to the system console:

BBWIB030I CAS(_casname_) connection is established
BBWIC050I MVE waiting for connections on http://_hostname_:_port#_
                    or http://_host_ip_:_port#_ BQYnnnn
BBWIC051I MVE TCP/IP server is ready
BBWIE001I MainView Explorer (v.r.mm) SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE
BBWIA001I Explorer Host Server initialization completed
