Filling out the Alarm Definition Make dialog


Use the Alarm Definition Make dialog to finalize and save your alarm definition.

To fill out the Alarm Definition Make dialog

  1. Specify the values for the Alarm Definition Make dialog.The following table describes the values you specify for the Alarm Definition Make dialog:

    Field

    Description

    Group Name

    Name of the group to which you want to add the alarm

    You can type the group name, or (BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2201) you can type ? and press Enter to see a list of existing alarm groups. For more information, see Step 2.

    If you specify a group that doesn't exist, the group is created.

    Alarm Name

    Alarm name

    Description

    Brief description of the alarm

    Replace Alarm

    Whether to replace an alarm with the same name in the same group if it exists

    Activate Alarm

    Whether to activate the alarm

    Comments

    Comments or notes that describe the alarm definition.

  2. (BMC.AMIOPS.SPE2201)

    (If you specified ? for Group Name), take the following steps:

    1. On the Select Alarm Group for Saving Alarm dialog, type S next to the alarm group to which you want to add the alarm.

      Tip

      You can see a description of the fields on the dialog be pressing F1 or typing HELP on the COMMAND line and pressing Enter.

    2. Press End.
      The Alarm Definition Make dialog is displayed with the selected group name.
  3. Press End to save your alarm definition.When the alarm is saved, Alarm Management displays the AMD view (Alarm-definition-list-views).
