What data does the metric display?

To discover the attributes of the data displayed by a particular metric, use the METRICZ view. This view is a registry-based view that contains information about all metrics. Locate the metric you want to examine by using one of the following methods:

  • If you know the name of the metric, you can find the metric in the summary view by using the LOCATE command on the Element Name column.
  • If you do not know the name of the metric, you can perform a search of the online Help text or title fields. Searching for a specific term or a character string that pertains to the data returns a list of the related metrics. By browsing the list of related metrics, you can identify the exact metric for which you are looking. For more information, see Locating-metrics-in-the-Data-Dictionary.

After locating the metric, you can examine the information provided in the columns to determine the attributes of the data that is displayed. (See METRICZ-view.)

Alternatively, for any metric that you want to examine, you can put your cursor on the element name and press Enter to either:

  • Hyperlink to the METRICS view, which displays a list of all product views containing the metric. (See METRICS-view.)
  • Hyperlink to the METRICD view, which displays the details for a particular metric and presents its data in a format optimized for viewing on the ISPF interface, without needing to scroll. (See METRICD-view.)

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
