Deleting a CAS definition

To delete a specific CAS definition from the CAS definition member (BBMTYBxx) in the parameter (UBBPARM) library, use the DELete command. Delete can be used at any time while you are in edit mode. For more information about edit mode, see Editing-CAS-definitions.

In both CASDEF and CASDEFD views:
As long as the CAS definition member is in edit mode, you can recover any CAS definitions that were deleted since the edit lock was obtained.  For more information, see Recovering-a-CAS-definition.

To delete a CAS definition

Depending on the view you are working from, use one of the following forms of the DELete command: The status field on the window information line is changed from (00 EDIT  ) to (00 EDIT  MOD   ). This indicates that the edit lock is still active but that the change has not yet been saved to the CAS definition member (the CAS definition member has been modified). To save the CAS definition member, see Saving-CAS-definitions.

Primary command

You can use the Primary command from the COMMAND line in either the CASDEF or CASDEFD view.

  • CASDEF view
    DEL casname: The CAS definition specified by casname disappears from the list of CAS definitions..
  • CASDEFD view
    DEL: The currently displayed CAS definition is marked for deletion. In the details of the definition, under Update Info, the value for Deleted? changes to Yes.

Line command

For both views, the command is the same.

  • CASDEF view
    DEL: Enter under CMD, next to the CAS definition you want to delete. The definition disappears from the list.

  • CASDEFD view
    DEL: Enter next to CAS Name for the CAS definition currently displayed in the view. In the details of the definition, under Update Info, the value for Deleted? changes to Yes.

Note

In CASDEF view:
You can use the SHOWDel command to see a CAS definition that was deleted and removed from the list. While still in edit mode, enter SHOWD on the COMMAND line. The deleted definition reappears in the list with a value of Y under the Del column to indicate it is marked for deletion when the member is released from edit mode.

This option is not applicable if the edit lock was removed from the member prior to using this command.
