Adding CAS definitions

To add a new CAS definition to the CAS definition member (BBMTYBxx) in the parameter (UBBPARM) library, use the ADD command. Add can be used at any time while you are in edit mode. For more information about edit mode, see Editing-CAS-definitions.

You specify the details of the new CAS definition in the Add New CAS System Definition dialog. Press the Help key for information about each field in this dialog.

To add a CAS definition

  1. From either the CASDEF or CASDEFD view, use the ADD command (refer to the command syntax below) to access the Add New CAS System Definition dialog.
  2. Modify the fields in the dialog as required.
  3. Use the END command, or its corresponding PF key, to save the new CAS definition, exit the dialog, and return to your view. The status field on the window information line is changed from (00 EDIT  ) to (00 EDIT  MOD   ). This indicates that the edit lock is still active but that the change has not yet been saved to the CAS definition member (the CAS definition member has been modified). To save the CAS definition member, see Saving-CAS-definitions.

Notes

  • It is recommended that the CAS System Name be the same as the MVS System for which the CAS definition is being created (unless you are defining a test CAS, and a production CAS is already running on the same system).
  • You can use z/OS system symbols (&SYSNAME, &SMFID, and so on) for the fields in the "Parmlib Suffix Information" and "Miscellaneous CAS Parameters" sections.

Command syntax

Depending on the view you are working from or the type of CAS definition you want to add, use one of the following forms of the ADD command:

Primary command

You can use the Primary command from the COMMAND line in either the CASDEF or CASDEFD view.

  • CASDEF view
ADD: The Add New CAS System Definition dialog opens with a set of basic, default values.
    or
ADD casname : The Add New CAS System Definition dialog opens with the specified casname in the CAS System Name field. The remainder of the fields are basic, default values.

  • CASDEFD view
ADD: The Add New CAS System Definition dialog opens with the values of the CAS definition currently displayed in the CASDEFD view. Use these values as a template for your new definition. You must change at least the CAS System Name field in order to save the new definition.

Line command

For both views, the Add New CAS System Definition dialog opens with the values of the selected CAS definition. Use these values as a template for your new definition. You must change at least the CAS System Name field in order to save the new definition.

  • CASDEF view
A: Enter under CMD, next to the CAS definition you want to use as a template for the new definition.
  • CASDEFD view
A: Enter next to CAS Name to use the CAS definition currently displayed in the view as a template for the new definition.
