Displaying active systems and sessions (CASACT and CASACTD views)

You can display active systems and sessions using the following views:

  • CASACT view displays the status of all CAS-to-CAS communication links, including VTAM, XCF, and TCP/IP.
  • CASACTD view displays the communication and activity status of a single CAS.

CASACT view

The CASACT view, in addition to displaying the status of all CAS-to-CAS communications, enables you to manage cross-system VTAM communication links between CASs. By entering commands from this view, you can start, halt, or quiesce cross-system VTAM communication links between CASs.

Note

Commands associated with the CASACT view affect the current CAS only, which is identified by a Yes in the Cur Sys field.

To access the CASACT view

Use one of the following methods to access the CASACT view:

  • In Plex Manager, type CASACT on the COMMAND line and press Enter.
  • From any BMC AMI Ops product that is running in windows mode, use the following CONtext command to access Plex Manager and display the CASACT view:  CON * PLEXMGR;CASACT

The CASACT view is displayed.

Note

An optional TCP Encryption parameter enables encryption for CAS-to-CAS, TCP/IP communication. In the CASACT view, you can verify that encryption is enabled if YES appears in the IP Enc column. For information on how to enable TCP/IP encryption, see Adding-CAS-definitions and Changing-existing-CAS-definitions.

You can scroll to the right to display the remaining fields of the CASACT view, as shown below:

CASACTD view

The CASACTD, an information only view, provides all of the details for a selected CAS.

To access the CASACTD view

Use one of the following methods from within the CASACT view to access the CASACTD view:

  • Enter S under CMD, next to the CAS you want to see and press Enter.
  • Place the cursor on the CAS you want to see and press Enter

The CASACTD view is displayed.
