Exporting and importing CCS definitions

In the BMC AMI Ops Console Management UI, product administrators can export the Console Consolidation server (CCS) definitions and import them into another server. With the export and import functionality, you can also back up your configured consoles to another server.

To export CCS definitions

  1. Go to System Overview > Console Consolidation > Consolidation Servers.
  2. Select one or more servers from the table and click Export from the table Actions button.
The CCS definitions file is saved in JSON format.

Important

You can choose to export all or selected CCS definitions. The exported JSON file contains the Console Consolidation servers and their consoles.

To import and review CCS definitions

You can use the import functionality to restore a CCS definition. You can import all CCS definitions that you exported from another server and review the definitions before importing.

Important

When you import CCS definitions from a file, you import all the definitions present on the uploaded file or no definitions at all.

  1. To import a CCS configuration, click Import from the Actions menu.
  2. Click Attach file to locate the JSON file, or drag the file to the application window.
    1. After the file is uploaded, the Review CCS Definitions window is displayed.
    2. The Review CCS Definitions window displays mandatory attributes in the table columns for servers and consoles, as well as error and warning icons.
Hover over the icons to view the details.
  1. After reviewing the definitions, click Import.
The CCS definitions are imported to the current server.

The following table describes the error and warning icons:

The error icon indicates inconsistencies in the data, such as an invalid port number or missing attributes. If the server or the console contains one or more such errors, you must:

  1. Correct the inconsistencies in the selected server or console.
  2. Fix the information at the source.
  3. Export the file again to restart the import operation.

The warning icon indicates servers with duplicate names.

For such warnings, the Import button is enabled and you can proceed with the import action. However, for the duplicate instances, the application automatically generates new unique names with an incremental number.

Example

If a server named ABLE exists, a new CCS definition named ABLE_1 is created. If ABLE_1 already exists, ABLE_2 is created, and so on.
