HMC tab

A Console Automation Server can connect to one or more Hardware Management Consoles (HMCs). The HMC tab displays the currently defined HMC sessions with their status. Using this tab, you can start, stop, enable, disable, and modify an automation server's connections to individual HMCs.

You must configure HMC to allow a Console Automation Server to receive messages and send commands. For more information, see the System z Application Programming Interfaces topic on the IBM website.

The following table describes the parameters on the HMC tab:

Parameter

Description

Enabled

Click to enable or disable the selected session.

Name

Displays the name of the session.

Host

Displays the name of the host.

Status

Displays the status of the session.

Status Detail

Displays operational status in more detail.

Actions

The Actions column provides the following functions:

  • Start: Starts the session. This button is disabled if the server is not running, if the session is already running, or if the session is disabled.
  • Stop: Stops the session. This button is disabled if the server is not running, if the session is stopped, or if the session is disabled.
  • Enable: Enables a disabled connection.
  • Disable: Disables an active connection.
  • Edit: Modifies the parameters of the selected HMC connection.
  • Delete: Deletes the selected HMC connection.

Configuring HMC connection

To create a new HMC connection, click the +New HMC link on the HMC tab. To modify a HMC connection, click the Edit function from the Actions column.

You can define or modify the following parameters to configure HMC by access type:

  • SNMP
  • WebServices

The following table describes the SNMP Access type parameters:

Parameters

Description

HMC Name

(Required) Enter the name used in the Automation server HMC list and used to tag any messages received from the HMC.

Host Name

The default value is 60,000.

Startup Script

RDL code that is executed when the Automation server starts the HMC session. This would normally be a function call, for example loadIPLvalues()

The following table describes the WebServices Access type parameters:

Parameters
