When to use OSPI

BMC AMI Ops Automation communicates with MVS and its subsystems by using standard software interfaces; for example, the Subsystem Interface (SSI) is used to communicate with MVS.

However, many VTAM applications do not provide a software interface but require use of a 3270 terminal instead.

The OSPI facility provides access from an BMC AMI OpsA EXEC to these VTAM applications without requiring a physical 3270 terminal. OSPI allows most 3270-operator actions to be emulated by an EXEC. Use this facility when you need to access VTAM applications that ordinarily require an operator to actually log on to a 3270 terminal.
