Assigning commands to program function keys

Each set of 24 PF key definitions can be changed for a single terminal session, or they can be saved across multiple sessions.

Any valid system command or BMC Software product command can be assigned to a PF key. Any input that can be entered in the first input field of a display, such as the COMMAND or OPTION field, can also be assigned as a PF key value. PF keys can also be combined with command line input.

Example

For example, if you enter a 5 on the COMMAND line and press F8 (DOWN), you generate a DOWN 5 command.

To change a PF key assignment

  1. Perform one of the following operations:
    • Select the KEYS option (K).
    • Enter the KEYS command.

  2. Perform one of the following operations:

    • Enter the new value over the displayed value.
    • Assign NOP to disable a PF key.
    • Blank out the current value to restore the default definition.

    The changes remain in effect until you end the terminal session.

To save the your PF key assignments in your BBPROF data set

Enter SAVE on the COMMAND line.After you save this information, it is named AOPFK in your BBIPROF data set.
