How TOM works

The following sections describe how TOM PASs start, how TOM starts and stops objects, how TOM recovers failed objects, and how you can specify command limits for an object. TOM uses automation functions:

  • Define events that signify when an object starts, stops, or ends abnormally
  • Schedule EXECs, issue IMFEXEC CMD commands and write messages to the BMC AMI Ops Automation journal, in pre-start, post-start, pre-stop, post-stop, recovery, server connect and disconnect commands
  • Get, define and update shared variables named in object definition
