Temporarily changing the MSU limits for the active policy and subpolicies

Use the following procedures to change the following limits for the active policy and subpolicies without modifying the saved policy definition:

  • Initial MSU limit
  • (PTF BQY2809 applied) the maximum MSU limit

When the master PAS restarts, the MSU limits return to their original values.
If iCap is executing a dynamic MSU limit, you can change the MSU limits as described in the following procedures. If iCap is not executing a dynamic MSU limit, you can change the MSU limit by following the instructions in To change the initial MSU limit.

Important

iCap ignores MODIFY commands if you issue them to a PAS other than the master PAS.

To change the initial MSU limit

In the master console, issue one of the following commands:

  • To change the initial MSU limit for the main policy, issue the following command:

    /F <masterPas>,MSULIMIT=<newInitialMsuLimit>
  • (PTF BQY2858 applied) To change the initial MSU limit for a subpolicy, issue the following command:

    /F <masterPas>,SUBPOLICY=<subpolicyName>,MSULIMIT=<newInitialMsuLimit>

You can specify a MSU limit of 1 through 99999.

Important

If iCap is not executing a dynamic MSU limit, this command changes the MSU limit for the main policy or subpolicy.

Examples
  • If the master PAS is running as address space ICAPMAST, you can change the initial MSU limit to 850 by issuing the following command in the master console:
    /F ICAPMAST,MSULIMIT=850
  • If the master PAS is running as address space ICAPMAST and the main policy contains a subpolicy called SUBPOLICY1, you can change the initial MSU limit to 200 by issuing the following command in the master console:
    /F ICAPMAST,SUBPOLICY=SUBPOL1,MSULIMIT=200

To change the maximum MSU limit (PTF BQY2809 applied)

In the master console, issue one of the following commands:

  • To change the initial MSU limit for the main policy, issue the following command:

    /F <masterPas>,MAXMSULIMIT=<newMaxMsuLimit>
  • (PTF BQY2858 applied) To change the initial MSU limit for a subpolicy, issue the following command:

    /F <masterPas>,SUBPOLICY=<subpolicyName>,MSULIMIT=<newMaxMsuLimit>

Examples
  • If the master PAS is running as address space ICAPMAST, you can change the maximum MSU limit to 1200 by issuing the following command in the master console:
    /F ICAPMAST,MAXMSULIMIT=1200
  • If the master PAS is running as address space ICAPMAST and the main policy contains a subpolicy called SUBPOLICY1, you can change the initial MSU limit to 500 by issuing the following command in the master console:
    /F ICAPMAST,SUBPOLICY=SUBPOL1,MAXMSULIMIT=500

You can specify a MSU limit of 1 through 99999.
