Introduction to Job Limiting Services in JAL
The design of Job Limiting Services (JLS) allows for control in both JAL and DAL. As a result, significant facilities are provided in JAL and DAL to facilitate the dynamic creation of Limiting Agents and the association of jobs to these Agents.
A section is dedicated to JLS in this publication because JAL and DAL are integral parts of JLS support. Other facilities, such as Job Binding Services or Job Chaining Services, are only assisted by JAL and DAL. Because their functionality is mainly provided with JECL statements, they are documented in the Job Binding Services: System Programming Guide. JLS is also discussed in the Job Binding Services: System Programming Guide.
Limiting JAL and DAL services include:
- The JLS_LIMITDEF definition statement.
- Action statements to associate jobs with Limiting Agents.
- Two "$JX type" execution time variables.
Note that the descriptions in this section are intended to illustrate how the statements are used, therefore the syntax descriptions are not intended to be complete.
