Using the MSU Cost Editor

To calculate the costs of running a product, Cost Management requires you to insert cost coefficients from your IBM license agreement into cost tables. Use the MSU Cost Editor to edit the cost coefficients for each MLC product on your system.

Cost Management sets the default value of the cost coefficients in these tables to zero. You must edit the cost coefficients in the cost tables by entering your actual cost coefficient values provided by IBM.

Important

You must specify the cost coefficients for your MLC products before you can use the MLC Software Contract Reporting, MLC Monthly Reporting, or MLC Planning tools. Similarly, you should edit the cost coefficients to reflect any changes to your pricing arrangements with IBM.

To select a product type

  1. From the console, click Cost Management Tools.
  2. From the Cost Management Tools list, click MSU Cost Editor.
The MSU Cost Editor is displayed.

The Type column displays all the products that use the selected pricing type.

Important

When you start with a session for the first time, the default product type is MLC, but in the subsequent sessions, the filter last selected becomes the default product type.

  1.  In the MSU Cost Editor, perform one of the following actions:
    • To specify coefficients for a specific product, find the row for that product and click the Edit link in the Cost Coefficients column.
