Working with Container Pricing in MLC Monthly Summary Reports

When you generate an MLC Monthly Summary Report for a month that had container activity from either an LPAR container or a Collocated container, the report provides details about the MSU reduction values in the Combined MSU Reduction column. When you click the values in the Combined MSU Reduction column, the Reducing activity and MSU reduction values are displayed. You can use these values to compare with the Container R4HA at Peak values.

The following sample report shows the LPAR activity for a product that utilized MSUs on several LPARs that are specified as containers:

The report distinguishes the following types of containers:

For container MSU utilization activity, the report provides columns for the following metrics:

Column

Description

Container R4HA at Peak

The MSU reduction amount for the container activity on the LPAR

Important

The Combined MSU Reduction value can include all types of reductions (Mobile, zCAP, and Container). The Container R4HA at Peak value isolates the MSU reduction that resulted from container activity. The Container R4HA at Peak and the Combined MSU Reduction values are identical when container activity is the only type of reduction activity that exists.

Container MAX R4HA

The highest R4HA value for the container activity on the LPAR

Container Total MSU

Total MSU utilization for the container activity on the LPAR

You can use the visibility selectors display chart.PNG to add the LPAR activity to the charting area to see how the reduction activity affected the CPC R4HA. In the following figure, you can compare the colored areas (representing the reduction activity of LPAR containers) to the red and green charts (representing the adjusted and unadjusted CPC R4HA curves).

For any container LPAR, you can also click the R4HA Utilization chart to drill down to a report that shows the hourly activity for the LPAR and a breakdown of the MSU utilization for each type of reduction (Mobile, zCAP, or Container) as shown in the following figures:
