Cost Management User Groups


The functionality of BMC AMI Cost Management tools and access to cost data can vary for each user and is determined by assigning users to BMC AMI Cost Management user groups.

It is the responsibility of the Windows system administrator to assign each user to a User Group. For more information, see Assigning-users-to-Cost-Management-User-Groups.

The user's assignment to a BMC AMI Cost Management group determines:

  • Which tools the user can access and the degree of functionality of those tools
  • Whether the user has access to cost information

Important

Depending on the BMC AMI Cost Management components that a user requires when using the product, some users may need to be assigned to more than one group.

 Users should be assigned to one or more of the following BMC AMI Cost Management groups:

  • Manage Model Builder Tasks
  • Application Log Viewer
  • Strobe Configuration tool

BMC AMI Cost Management Cost Administrators

All product components and the following Cost Management Tools:

  • Manage Software Contracts
  • Manage CPC Configurations
  • MSU Cost Editor
  • Manage TFP Configurations

Important

Access to Cost Management Tools enables users to perform administration functions that include the following confidential activities:

  • Defining software contracts
  • Configuring CPC pricing metrics and PricingPlex
  • Specifying cost coefficients in a cost table  
  • Setting up TFP Configurations

BMC AMI Cost Management Capacity Planners

All product components and can view MLC cost information but cannot access Administration Tools or Cost Management Tools.

BMC AMI Cost Management System Programmers

Limited application functionality but cannot view MLC cost information.

BMC AMI Cost Management Application Support

Limited application functionality but cannot view MLC cost information.

BMC AMI Cost Management Executives

Limited application functionality and can view MLC cost information.

BMC AMI Cost Management Managers

Limited application functionality and can view MLC cost information.

BMC AMI Cost Management iCap User

Application functionality of only the iCap Policy Definition Tool
