Getting started

This section introduces the BMC AMI Cost Management (Cost Management) product, describing its architecture, user roles, and tools.

Cost Management provides interactive tools for comprehensive analysis of your IBM sub-capacity licensing costs across your mainframe system. As part of your cost-savings program, the BMC AMI Cost Management:

  • Utilizes the Universal Information Exchange (UIE) component running on the mainframe to populate data into Capacity Management Databases
  • Uses data retrieved from a Capacity Database Web Services server to create cost models
  • Allows you to enact effective plans to reduce your environment costs
  • Unifies the various components of your overall cost-saving solution by providing reporting, planning, and cost management capabilities
  • Utilizes cost analysis tools that can determine where and how to implement changes for maximum cost savings
