Specifying LPAR containers in Cost Management


The following procedure describes how to specify LPAR containers in BMC AMI Cost Management:

  • Add CONTAINER commands to Model Builder Tasks
  • Rebuild the cost models for any month in which Container Pricing was in effect

When you specify LPAR containers in BMC AMI Cost Management, the Container Pricing reductions are included in the cost model of the next scheduled Model Builder Task. 

To specify LPAR containers in Cost Management

  1. From the Cost Management console, click Administration Tools.
  2. From the Administration Tools list, click Manage Model Builder Tasks.

    The Model Builder Task Manager dialog box is displayed listing the defined tasks.

  3. Select the Model Builder Task that you want to add an LPAR container definition to, and then click Modify.

    The Modify Model Builder Task dialog box is displayed.

  4. In the Modify Model Builder Task dialog box, click Advanced Options.
    The Advanced Options dialog box is displayed.

  5. From the Advanced Options, click SCRT Commands and enter the following command:

    CONTAINER CPC=<tttt>-<sssss>,IMAGE_ID=(<image1>,<image2>,...,<imageN>),ID=<solutionID>

    The following table defines the value of the variables:

    Variable

    Description

    tttt

    CPU type

    sssss

    Last five characters of CPU serial number

    image1, image2,...,imageN

    Names of the LPARs that are container LPARS

    solutionID

    Solution identification number

    Note

    You must specify at least one IMAGE_ID.

    Example
    CONTAINER CPC=2965-F4EB7,IMAGE_ID=JESA,ID=D9F4555-13446AD-70FF8DA303-0915801A-C0AA-489A-891B-6EF7DD-C744F4
  6. Click Accept after completing the entries in the Advanced Options.
  7. In the Modify Model Builder Task dialog box, click Modify Task.
    The Modify Model Builder Task dialog box closes.
  8. In the Model Builder Task Manager dialog box, click Save Changes.
    Cost Management will update the cost model for the current month with Container Pricing after running the next scheduled model build of the task.
  9. (Optional) If Container Pricing was in effect for a previous month, perform the following actions:

    1. From the Cost Management console, click Administration Tools.
    2. From the Administration Tools list, click Manage Model Builder Tasks.The Model Builder Task Manager dialog box is displayed listing the defined tasks.

    3. From the list, select the Model Builder Task you want to build, and click Run.The Run Task Now dialog box is displayed.

    4. From the calendar in the dialog box, select the usage month when Container Pricing was in effect.The usage month starts on the 2nd day of the month and ends on the 1st day of the following month.
    5. Click Submit.Cost Management runs the Model Builder Task. Check the Model Build Task status indicator at the top right of the console for the status of the task.
    6. Repeat Step 9.d through Step 9.e for every month that Country Multiplex Pricing was in effect.

    You can now generate MLC Monthly Summary Reports for each month Container Pricing was in effect.
