Certificate management

BMC AMI Console Management provides features for managing certificates used for network encryption and security.

The certificate management utilities are divided into two area:

  • Utilities for managing the server certificates
  • Utilities for managing client certificate authentication

Server certificates allow client software such as web browsers, the BMC AMI Console Automation viewer, and the CCS client to verify that they are communicating with a valid server.

When BMC AMI Console Management is installed, a self-signed certificate is generated based on the Linux server's host name. The Apache Tomcat web server uses this self-signed certificate to enable network encryption using HTTPS.

Note

Since the certificate is self-signed the web servers produce a warning.
