Managing report views

The report views summarize the information retrieved from the database. In a report view, you can compare data by using charts that are based on data granularity, with fixed and dynamic timespans. You can also project data into the future.

You can perform the following actions in a report view:

  • Modify report views
  • Create child report views
  • Change the parent of a report view
  • Reorder child report views
  • Reorder sibling report views
  • Inherit common filter selections from the parent view

To select a report view

To select a report view, click inside it. A blue border around a report view shows the currently selected view. When you click a view, the filter bar displays the filters that are selected for that view. You can also see the views to which your current view is related.

    Option

    Description

    Data Granularity

Select the type of data that is available in this view.

The Data Granularity field provides you with a measured granularity of the data being compared. You can select one of the following options:

    • MeasuredSelects the measured data for the specified intervals
    • Measured as Hourly—Aggregates the measured data into hourly intervals

      Warning

      Important

This option is displayed in the list only if the measured data has an interval length of less than an hour for example, 15-minute intervals.

    • Measured as Daily—Aggregates the measured data into daily intervals
    • Measured as Weekly—Aggregates the measured data into weekly intervals
    • Measured as Monthly—Aggregates the measured data into monthly intervals
    • Measured as OneSpan—Aggregates the entire date span selection including any time span, into a single average value for each object-metric. For example, you can use this option to see the biggest resource consumers over several days or weeks.

When you select one of the Measured as data granularity options, the Time range field is displayed.

    Warning

    Important

The Time range field is not displayed for the Measured option.

In the Time range field, you can select start and end times in the day to further restrict the aggregation to:

    • Include only specific hours of the day by selecting an end time later than the start time.
      • For example, selecting 0800 A.M. to 0400 P.M. in the Time Range field will aggregate only those 8 hours of measurements each day.
    • Exclude hours of the day by selecting an end time earlier than the start time.
      • For example, if you select 0400 P.M. to 0800 A.M. in the Time Range field, only the hours from 0000 A.M. to 0800 A.M. and 0400 P.M. to 1159 P.M. are aggregated for each selected day, effectively excluding the hours of 0800 A.M. to 0400 P.M.
