Installing BMC AMI Capacity Reporting
Before you begin
The installation program checks for the requirements described in BMC AMI Capacity Reporting system requirements. If any requirement is not satisfied, the installation program notifies you and stops. Before restarting the installation program, you must satisfy the missing requirements.
If you plan to run the BMC AMI Capacity Reporting service under a specific user account, the account must have Log On as a Service rights.
To install BMC AMI Capacity Reporting
- Perform one of the following actions:
- If you have downloaded the product from the Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) facility, navigate to the folder in which the installation files were saved.
If you have received a physical product shipment, insert the BMC AMI Capacity Reporting installation CD into a CD drive.
- In the BMC AMI Capacity Reporting folder, double-click the setup.exe file.
- On the Welcome page, click Next.
- Read the license agreement and then indicate your acceptance by clicking Yes.
- Review the Readme file and then click Next.
- On the Choose Destination Location page:
- If BMC AMI Capacity Reporting is not installed, setup installs it in the Destination Folder.
- If BMC AMI Capacity Database Web Services is not installed, it is installed at the same location as BMC AMI Capacity Reporting, C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Software\CMM, and C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Software\CDB, as shown on the Choose Destination Location page.
Perform one of the following actions:- Click Next to accept the default locations.
- Click Browse to choose a different location for BMC AMI Capacity Reporting. If you change the location for BMC AMI Capacity Reporting, the location for BMC AMI Capacity Database Web Services changes accordingly.
If BMC AMI Capacity Database Web Services is installed, its files are updated. The Choose Destination Location page displays the location of BMC AMI Capacity Database Web Services.
Perform one of the following actions:
- Click Next to accept the default location for BMC AMI Capacity Reporting.
Click Browse to choose a different location for BMC AMI Capacity Reporting. The location of BMC AMI Capacity Database Web Services does not change.
- If both BMC AMI Capacity Reporting and BMC AMI Capacity Database Web Services are installed, the Choose Destination Location page displays the location of both products. These locations cannot be changed.
The Windows Service Identity and IIS Application Pool Identity page is displayed as follows:
- On the Windows Service Identity and IIS Application Pool Identity page, perform the following actions:
- Select an account under which the BMC AMI Capacity Reporting Service should run. You can select either Local System Account or Specific User Account. The specific user account must have Log On As A Service rights.
- Enter the Domain\Username and password for the account.
- Click Test User Account to verify the account.
- Click IIS Advanced Options.
The IIS Advanced Options dialog box displays, showing the IIS configurations that exist on the machine: From the menus, select the IIS Web Site and the Port Number, and then click OK.
- When finished with your specifications on the Windows Service Identity and IIS Application Pool Identity page, click Next.
The Start Copying Files page is displayed.
- Review your entries on the Start Copying Files page and click Next to begin the installation.
The Setup Status page displays a progress bar that indicates the progression of the installation process.
After the files are installed, BMC AMI Capacity Reporting detects the Microsoft Windows firewall. - When asked if you want to configure the firewall, enter YES or NO based on the following options:
- Click YES if you want the installation program to add all necessary entries to the firewall.
Click NO if you want to enter the firewall settings shown in the following table manually:

- Click Finish and if prompted, restart your computer.
To verify the server
Perform this procedure if the BMC AMI Capacity Reporting Server Verification page is displayed while installing BMC AMI Capacity Reporting.
The BMC AMI Capacity Reporting Server Verification page is displayed only when you are using the HTTPS protocol, and the install cannot resolve the server name with the common name on the SSL certificate
- In the Server field, enter the SSL certificate’s common name in the form of a fully qualified domain name.
Click Test Server Connection to verify the connection, then click OK.
If the connection cannot be verified, select the Bypass Server Verification checkbox to bypass the server verification and complete the installation process.
