Assigning users to BMC AMI Capacity Reporting user groups


Use the following procedure to assign a user to a BMC AMI Capacity Reporting user group.

Before users can begin to use BMC AMI Capacity Reporting, they must be assigned to a BMC AMI Capacity Reporting user group. The group assignment determines the user's access to BMC AMI Capacity Reporting components.

To assign a user to a BMC AMI Capacity Reporting user group

  1. From Microsoft Windows, navigate to Computer Management.
  2. In the left pane, expand Local Users and Groups and select the Groups folder.
  3. From the Groups list, right-click on the user group that you want to add the user to.

    Important

    Each BMC AMI Capacity Reporting user group provides different functionality to the user by allowing access to a particular BMC AMI Capacity Reporting component. We recommend that you determine which BMC AMI Capacity Reporting components the user should have access to and then assign the user to the appropriate group. For more information, see BMC-AMI-Capacity-Reporting-user-groups.

  4. Click on Properties and then click Add.
  5. In the Select Users dialog box, enter the username and click Check Names.
    Windows verifies the username.
  6. Click OK.
     The Select Users dialog box closes and the new name is added to the BMC AMI Capacity Reporting group.
  7. From the Properties dialog box of the BMC AMI Capacity Reporting Group, verify that the new name is displayed in the members list.
  8. Click OK to close the dialog box.

Important

You can publish Dashboards to Active Directory groups and to individual users.

To use this feature, the following prerequisites must be satisfied either during installation or configuration:

  • The Windows service must run under a user account that has access to the Active Directory domain.
  • The IIS worker process must run under a user account that has access to the Active Directory domain.

During installation, when you are prompted to select a user account, specify a service account that has access to the Active Directory domain.
