Adding a DSN to the CDB Automator catalog

To add a DSN to the CDB Automator catalog

1. Prepare the Windows server for use with BMC AMI Capacity Reporting by performing one of the following tasks, depending on your server version:

   Version	Reference
   Windows 2022	How to configure a Windows Server 2022 to be used with AMI Capacity Database, AMI Cost Management and AMI Capacity Management.
   Windows 2019	How to configure a Windows Server 2019 to be used with BMC AMI Capacity Database, BMC AMI Cost Management, and BMC AMI Capacity Management.
   Windows 2016	How to Configure a Windows 2016 server for use with BMC AMI Capacity Database, BMC AMI Cost Management, and BMC AMI Capacity Management.
   Windows 2012	How to prepare a Windows 2012 server for use with BMC AMI Capacity Database, BMC AMI Cost Management, and BMC AMI Capacity Management.

2. Install the Capacity Database Web Services. For more information, see Installing-BMC-AMI-Capacity-Database-Web-Services 

3. To access the database from a remote server/client computer, install the database client components by performing one of the following tasks, depending on your server:

   Server	OS	Reference
   SQL Server	DBA/Windows	How to install SQL Server client components needed for use with BMC AMI Capacity Database, BMC AMI Cost Management, and BMC AMI Capacity Management.
   Oracle 18c	DBA/Windows	How to Install the Oracle 18c Client to be used with BMC AMI Capacity Database, BMC AMI Cost Management, and BMC AMI Capacity Management.
   Oracle 19c	DBA/Windows	How to Install the Oracle 19c Client to be used with BMC AMI Capacity Database, BMC AMI Cost Management, and BMC AMI Capacity Management.

4. Create an ODBC Data Source Name (DSN) entry by performing one of the following tasks, depending on your database:

   Database	Reference
   SQL Server database by using SQL Server Authentication	How to create an ODBC Data Source for a SQL Server database using SQL Server Authentication.
   SQL Server database by using Windows Authentication	How to create an ODBC Data Source for a SQL Server database using Windows Authentication.
   Oracle database	How to create an ODBC Data Source for an Oracle database.

5. Add a database to the Automator catalog, see How to add a database to the Automator Catalog. 

   Important

   Before Capacity Database Web Services can use a database, you must add the database to the Automator Catalog.
