Viewing an alert summary
Nightly process and alerts
The nightly process reevaluates all workflows based on the Dynamic Data Timespan field.
- Each time the nightly process runs, it retrieves new data from the database and makes this new data available to both the Workflow report view and the dashboard.
- To reevaluate all alert rules specified in the category and metrics charts, apply them to the reevaluated result and generate alerts (if any).
By default, all workflows associated with dashboards are reevaluated and all other workflows are skipped.
Generating alerts
To generate alerts, the nightly process reevaluates the alert rules attached to workflows in the alert rule editor with the latest data. The statistical boundaries that you specify in the Banding option in the Filter Action > Advanced Filter Options defines the alerts boundaries. Each alert rule works for one category and one metric. The alerts generated by the nightly process are displayed in the Dashboard Alert Summary dialog box on the Smart Dashboards.
For more information on banding, see Using-the-Banding-and-the-Min-Max-options.
