Using Task Scheduler to run a nightly process


If you do not want to alter your existing CDB Automator script, or cannot access it for alterations, you can schedule the nightly process to run using the Microsoft Windows Task Scheduler. 

To run the nightly process

  1. Open the Task Scheduler by using the Computer Management console (all Windows versions).

  2. Click Create Basic Task.
  3. In the Create Basic Task Wizard dialog box, enter the task name and description and click Next.

  4. To select a schedule for the nightly process runs, click Daily.

    The task runs every day after the Visualizer database has been populated.

  5. Click Next.
  6. Select Start a program as the action of the task.

  7. Click Browse and navigate to the BMC AMI Capacity Reporting installation folder, for example, C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Software\CMM\bin\BMCCMMNightProcess.exe file.
    Keep the Add arguments and Start in fields blank.

  8. Click Next.
  9. Verify the task summary. Click Back if you want to change anything. Otherwise, click Finish.

    The task is now added to the Windows schedule and runs at the specified time. Check the Application Log Viewer Nightly Build Logs to ensure that there are no errors.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
