History report

The Data Optimizer History report provides a view of the history information that Data Optimizer has collected.

The History report identifies how many samples have been stored by Data Optimizer for the entity and the date and time of the last sample. For each sample, the report includes the following information:

  • Number of direct (random) requests
  • Number of sequential requests
  • Number of I/Os for the DATA and INDEX component
  • Transition count, which is the number of times that a program transitioned from direct to sequential processing or from sequential processing to direct

Two History key formats are available: DSNPGM and FULLKEY. The History key in effect when the sample is taken determines the format of the data presented in the History report.

  • For the DSNPGM key, the report includes the program name and data set name combination that were to access the data.
  • For the FULL key, the report includes the job name, step name, procstep name, program name, and DD name used to access the data. This key is the default.

The following figure shows an example of the History report with the History key set to FULL.
