Synchronization options

Synchronization options identify points during processing at which Job Optimizer Pipes holds all participants for synchronization before processing continues.

The synchronization points are:

  • Data set allocation
  • Data set open
  • Data set close
  • Data set deallocation

All of the synchronization definition options are treated as one option. The option setting is determined by the following rules:

  • If all of the synchronization definition options are left blank, the values in JOPDEFRL are used as the default values for this option.
  • If any of these options have a value, any blank options are set to N, and the settings in JOBDEFRL are ignored.

Therefore, if you need to change the setting of one of these options, specify values for all synchronization points that are required.

Example

Y is specified for synchronization at open and synchronization at close in JOPDEFRL. Specifying Y in synchronization at allocation in the rule will result in synchronization at allocation only. JOPDEFRL is not used for synchronization option setting (because a value for this option is specified in the rule) and the empty options are treated as N.

If synchronization at allocation is required in addition to the specifications in JOPDEFRL (in this example, open and close), values should be set in all three options in the rule.
