Enter SMP/E settings

Warning

Important

  • If you prefer using a mainframe TSO session to complete the SMP/E installation or application of maintenance, go to SMP/E Installation Using the ISPF Interface and continue with the instructions there.
  • At the end of the SMP/E install process below, if you click the Upload SMP/E JCL to the Mainframe and SUBMIT button, the JCL provided in the UNLOAD file to TSO RECEIVE the product files will be executed automatically as part of the SMP/E install.
  • All BMC AMI DevX product releases 17.02 or newer, Abend-AID Release 16.05 or newer, Program Analyzer Release 16.05 or newer, and DevEnterprise Release 16.05 or newer require Enterprise Common Components (ECC) Release 16.05 with all current maintenance applied.
  • ECC 16.05 is downward compatible. For example, Xpediter 09.03 will be compatible with the ECC 16.05 release.
  • BMC AMI Enterprise Common Components Release 16.05 or newer cannot be in the same Target or Distribution zones as Abend-AID 12.04 and prior releases, Program AnalyzerRelease 05.03, or DevEnterprise 05.03 and prior releases.

The BMC EP Setup interface enables SMP/E installation of the selected product(s) and/or maintenance files directly from your PC.

  1. Click the SMP/E Install tab. The dialog shown in the following figure appears, listing the product installation and/or maintenance files you uploaded previously.
The message No Products Uploaded Yet is a reminder that you have to upload product installation and/or maintenance files before you can upload the SMP/E JCL.

    Warning

    Important

Do not click either of the Upload SMP/E JCL to the Mainframe buttons until all required fields, including those under SMP/E Options, have been filled in. Be sure to use names or hlq that you have UPDATE or ALTER access for as necessary.

  2.  Specify the basic values to be used during the SMP/E process as follows:
    • In the

      BMC AMI DevX

GLOBAL CSI Dataset field, enter the name of the CSI data set used for

      BMC AMI DevX

       products. The default is SYS1.

      CPWR

      .GLOBAL.CSI.

    • Click the appropriate button under Does the Global CSI already exist? depending on whether the CSI exists and, if so, whether it has been set up for BMC use.
    • In the HLQ for

      BMC AMI DevX

SMP/E Datasets field, enter the high-level qualifier to be used for the SMP/E data sets on the mainframe. The default is SYS1.

      CPWR

      .GLOBAL.

    • In the BMC AMI DevX Products High-level qualifier field, enter the high-level qualifier associated with the products to be installed. The default is SYS1.CPWR.

      Warning

      Important

The value entered in this field becomes the default for the High Level Qualifier fields on the Zone Info part of the screen in the next step. Any HLQ you enter there will override the default value for installing that specific product.

    • In the DASD Unit field, enter the appropriate symbolic unit. The default is SYSDA.
    • (Optional) In the DASD Volser field, enter the appropriate storage volume serial information. Be sure the target volume has enough space to hold all your files.
    • In the SMP/E Work Unit field, enter the name of the appropriate SMP/E work symbolic unit. The default is SYSDA.

      Warning

      Important

We recommend not to use a value of VIO. The SMPE work files can be quite large and it is very likely you will run out of VIO storage if you set this value to VIO.

  3. If not already expanded, click the plus (+) sign next to SMP/E Options to expand that area of the screen as shown in the following figure.

    Warning

    Important

If you are installing DevEnterprise, click Cancel, enter a DSN for SLHCLOAD, and retry the upload. Otherwise click OK to dismiss the message and continue with the installation.
