SMPE installation by using the EP media interface

This section contains important information that can help you install BMC AMI mainframe products from the BMC EP media.

Important

We recommend using the Receive From Network (RFN) installation procedure described in RFN SMPE installation of BMC AMI DevX mainframe products. The alternate procedures in this appendix are intended for those sites that use the BMC EP media interface to perform a full SMP/E installation, and the alternate procedures in SMP/E Installation Using the ISPF Interface are intended for those sites that first use the EP media interface, but only to upload product files to the mainframe or that first use the BMC EP media interface to generate the SMP/E JCL, but only upload product files and the generated SMP/E JCL.

The following steps provide a checklist for using BMC EP media.

Depending on the product family contained on your BMC EP media, you may have additional installation tabs. Details for using these tabs to install software to Windows or other platforms are contained in the Installation and Configuration documentation for each product and are not discussed in this space.
