Getting Started with iStrobe

To use iStrobe, follow this process:

  • Ensure that iStrobe is installed and configured to meet your site's requirements, as explained in the iStrobe Installation Guide.
  • Use either Strobe or iStrobe to create a measurement for analysis within the application.
  • When creating a Performance Profile, select iStrobe as the output format. On completion, download the Performance Profile to the file server on which iStrobe is installed. For details, see the Strobe MVS User's Guide.
  • Start iStrobe
  • Preferences
  • View Profiles


You can also:

  • Get context-sensitive help by clicking helpicon.png in any window.
  • Create your own customized help or add your own notes to a Performance Profile.
  • Search for and display Strobe Messages by selecting Strobe Message Lookup from the Help button on the iStrobe toolbar. From the Strobe Message Lookup dialog box, simply type a message number in the Message Number field and click Display. The message is identified and explained in a separate pop up box.
  • Use an application performance analysis workflow to guide you.
  • View FAQ and usage tips.
  • View representative Performance Profiles provided by BMC Compuware by selecting Profiles, Sample Profiles.
  • Keep track of and view usage statistics.
