Topaz for Total Test description

Topaz for Total Test

 Non-virtualized Test, also called

Topaz for Total Test

Functional Test, is targeted at application programmers and testers performing functional tests of applications on z/OS.

Xatz (

Topaz for Total Test

z/OS Agent) is the mainframe component of the

Topaz for Total Test

 feature.

Xatz consists of a test engine, several batch jobs, a number of generic call modules, a number of data structure parser modules, and a zFS directory structure. Xatz is written in LE/370-compliant High Level Assembler, COBOL, and REXX.

The current version executes under batch and CICS TS using Db2.

The end user interface of Non-virtualized Test is an application, running in

Topaz Workbench

, an Eclipse workbench on a workstation, or in a Web Browser. All information is stored in a repository, which by default is local to the workstation, but can be located elsewhere.

Tip

Topaz for Total Test Non-virtualized Test, also called Functional Test, has some features that require the Total Test Repository Server and z/OS Agent configuration to be completed before these can be used. This is specifically related to testing in a real CICS environment and testing sub programs with a linkage section in Batch. Specifically, palette elements Functional Test, Compare Data sets, Read Records and Write Records require the Repository Server and the z/OS Agent configuration.

All other non-virtualized/functional Batch testing in the Topaz Workbench works out-of-the-box and does not require the Total Test Repository Server and additional z/OS Agent configuration.
