File-AID Compare (File-AID Eclipse User Guide)

In the past, when an application developer using Topaz Workbench wanted to compare dataset records using layouts or fields within a record, they were forced to switch to a mainframe ISPF session, start File-AID/MVS, and invoke the Compare function. To avoid this need to go to the "green screen", some of the most frequently used features in File-AID/MVS Compare have been added to File-AID/Eclipse, including the ability to:

• compare using the same layout
• compare an entire record
• compare at the field level (with or without a layout)
• compare files on different LPARs.

This support is available for sequential, VSAM (including ESDS, KSDS, RRDS, and LINEAR), and IAM files.

Getting Started with File-AID Compare

The topics in this section will help you get started using File-AID Compare.
To use File-AID Compare for mainframe files, you must define an HCI host connection and connect Topaz Workbench or Eclipse/RDz to a mainframe system. To define your connection, click Window > Preferences, then expand Compuware > Host Connections and add an HCI host connection before continuing.
A host connection between the mainframe host and the Compuware Plug-ins should have already been defined during the installation and configuration of the Compuware Plug-ins. If you do not have host connection information (typically a port number and a host name), contact your system administrator to obtain specific connection configurations for your site for establishing Host Connections.
