Create a New Assignment
Perform the following steps to create a new assignment.
To create a new assignment
- Do one of the following:
- In the ISPW Containers view or the ISPW Release view, click

- From the Containers view's View menu, select Add New Assignment.
- From the Add Task to Assignment dialog box, click the New button next to the Assignment field.
- From the Add Tasks to Assignment dialog box (when adding multiple tasks to an assignment at the same time), click the New button next to the Assignment field.
The Add New Assignment dialog box appears.
- In the ISPW Containers view or the ISPW Release view, click
- From the Stream list, select the 2- to 8-character code that defines the application structure with which the application is associated.
- From the Application list, select the container's primary application code. Containers can include components from multiple applications.
- From the SubAppl list, select the container's subapplication code. Containers can include components from multiple subapplications.
- From the Default Path list, select the default starting/update level for tasks in this assignment.
- Enter details for the assignment based on the field definitions.
- From the Assignment prefix list, select the prefix to be appended to the next assignment number. Prefixes are defined on the mainframe.
- Select from the Release list the release to be used to associate logically related assignments; tasks added to the assignment will default to this release. Select the blank line to not relate assignments to a release. To filter the list of releases, click Filter to open the Filter dialog box. To create a new release, click New to open the Add New Release dialog box.
- When a Sandbox Codeline is supported by the installed product, the Sandbox section is available for users. Select the Create a Sandbox Codeline for this assignment check box to create a Sandbox Codeline assignment. The value of Join at Level will be filled with the parent level of the default path.
Click OK.
